Behaviour
Our
aim is to create a pleasant caring environment, in which the children feel
secure and confident. We encourage the children to develop responsibility and
self-discipline, within a fair but firm atmosphere, by rewarding good behaviour
and discouraging negative attitudes. We feel that the partnership between home
and school is very important, and would like parents to support us by ensuring
their children follow school rules, and are encouraged to accept discipline
positively. Good work
is rewarded by being granted certain privileges, or by being given merits which
are recorded on a personal card. When five merits are achieved the child
receives a silver star from the class teacher. When ten are achieved, the head
teacher awards a gold star in assembly, and a certificate is sent home. Merits
also contribute to the child's house team score, which is an on-going
competition to encourage effort. A display of some of the children's best work
is kept on view in the entrance hall.
Good
behaviour is rewarded in a similar way. When
15 behaviour merits are awarded the child receives a badge in assembly. A
further 15 merits gains them a silver badge, and 15 more the highly prized gold
badge. Children who choose not to follow the rules are given "order
marks". Each day means a fresh start. Homework
