Macaulay Junior School Supply Teacher’s Guide
Welcome
to Macaulay Junior School. We hope you enjoy your time with us, however short
that may be! These guidelines are to outline the
basic organisation of the school, so you know where, how and when things happen. On
arrival, please report to the Office,
where the secretary will explain which class you are taking, and if possible
will introduce you to another member of staff from the same year group. They
will be able to give you the lesson timetable, and relevant lesson notes and
resources. Please arrive at school early enough to allow for this preparation
time. School
starts at 8:50, when a bell will ring.
Teachers then go to the playground to collect their classes – years 3,4 and 5
at the far playground and year 6 at the side playground next to the main
entrance. There
are three whistles to signal the end of breaks. At the first whistle, all
children stand still. At the second whistle Year 6 children walk to their class
place next to the main entrance. At the third whistle all other children line up
in their class places. If you are on duty, you should
be in the playground five minutes before school begins for the morning and
afternoon sessions. Registration
and dinner books are completed straight away and there is then a short lesson
before assembly in the hall at 9:20. On Fridays there is an awards
assembly, and all staff remain in the hall. The
teachers are released for all other assemblies. Children who are excused assemblies go
to Mrs. Samuels’ classroom. On Tuesday,
the whole school has hymn practice in the hall from 9:00 Morning
break is from 10:40 to 10:55 Lunch
break is from 12:00 to 1:00 Afternoon
break is from 2:05 to 2:15 Home time is at 3:20 At the end of each session the
children are supervised from the classroom to the cloakroom. Wet playtimes – the children
remain in their classroom with appropriate activities. Teachers on duty are allocated classes
to supervise. At the end of the day please ensure that the classroom is left tidy, and that all the work you have done with the children is carefully marked. We would appreciate any relevant comments you may have about the children or the school in general |
